Cafes fill the middle tier, with purchase-per-hours etiquette everyone understands. My tier is the home desk with a fan, best for call-heavy days. Match venue to task: deep work at home, meetings in spaces, email over an iced coffee anywhere with shade.

Choose by call schedule more than by beach preference. Chaweng suits anyone whose clients live in European mornings: infrastructure is thickest, cafes open early, and redundancy sits one road away. Lamai balances cost against capability and carries my own vote for solo workers. Maenam and Bo Phut reward workers with flexible hours who value quiet over cafe density; fibre runs there too, just with fewer fallbacks nearby. West coast living asks for a car and confidence in your hotspot.
The timezone arithmetic that decides your day
Indochina sits at UTC+7, which shapes every calendar here. European mornings overlap my first hours perfectly, Australian afternoons catch me after lunch, and American clients force either late nights or recorded updates. Before booking anything, sketch your ideal Tuesday hour by hour and hold it against the area you are choosing; a perfect house in the wrong spot still produces a working life spent apologising for rescheduled calls yet again.
